Unrealised Dreams

Artist note: I am drawn to the grasping and hope which results in failure, that thing of unrealised dreams. This theme echoes through my manuscript in which a former iteration of self is writing a circus memoir while her mother writes a cancer-survivor memoir; neither fantasy will come to fruition. From the detritus of my personal and inherited archives, including diaristic marginalia and mementos tucked between pages, I crafted a series of Joseph Cornell–inspired shadow boxes which visually mirror the themes of my manuscript-in-progress Hermit Crab Diary.
